Vanir is the term for supernatural beings in Midgard. They are divided into different Houses depending on the corresponding species.
History[]
Vanir is the term for all magical, non-human beings. It includes Fae, angels, shifters, mer, sprites, and more. It covers every being on Midgard excepting humans and ordinary animals. Below the Asteri, who rule Midgard, are the Vanir, with humans at the bottom of the social hierarchy.
The first Vanir arrived on Midgard through the Northern Rift. They have been oppressing humans, the original inhabitants of Midgard, for fifteen thousand years. Vanir treat humans as prey, food, and whores. In recent centuries the Imperial Senate has granted humans more rights.
Physical Description[]
Vanir come in many different appearances, depending on their species. The Vanir have preternatural speed, grace, and reflexes.

Powers & Abilities[]
Upon completion of the Drop, Vanir gain long life spans and all the benefits that come from it. This includes swift healing abilities and increased senses. Each species of Vanir also has its own magical powers and abilities. Different species have different life expectancies once they make the Drop. The Fae could last a thousand years, the shifters and witches usually five centuries, and the Malakim are somewhere in between.
Trivia[]
- In Norse mythology, gods and goddesses usually belong to one of two tribes: the Aesir and the Vanir. Throughout most of the Norse tales, deities from the two tribes get along fairly easily, and it’s hard to pin down firm distinctions between the two groups. But there was a time when that wasn’t the case.[1]
