Truth-Teller is a knife carried by Azriel, which was stolen and temporarily carried by Bryce Quinlan.

History[]

The knife is originally part of the A Court of Thorns and Roses series. To view more information, please proceed to the according page in the A Court of Thorns and Roses Wiki.

Truth-Teller is an ancient knife from the Fae Homeworld. It is made from a metal crafted from Iridium, which is a black ore from a fallen meteorite, and exists beyond the planet's laws.[1] It is the last of the Cauldron-made objects and was made to fight against an ancient and cruel race known as the Daglan, who are better known as the Asteri. It used to belong to King Fionn's friend, but he carried it after his friend's death. Truth-Teller has not been seen in Midgard since the First Wars. It later came into Azriel's possession, until Bryce stole it from him and took it with her back to Midgard. After defeating the Asteri, Bryce returns Truth-Teller, along with its twin the Starsword, to the Fae homeworld.

Powers[]

Truth-Teller is said to be able to help its bearer discern truth from lies. When it is close to its twin, it glows with a dark light in response to the sword's white light. Truth-Teller and the Starsword are drawn together. Bryce describes it as if the two weapons are "singing" to each other.

When together and ordered to do so, the sword and the knife can open a portal to nowhere, as the sword was Made and the knife is able Unmake things. Made and Unmade. Matter and antimatter. With the right influx of power, a command from the one destined to wield them, they can be merged. They can create a place where no life, no light exists. A place that is nothing. Nowhere.[2]

Trivia[]

  • In Midgard exists a Fae prophecy which says: "When knife and sword are reunited, so shall our people be", referring to both Truth-Teller and its twin, the Starsword.[3]
