Syrinx is a chimera belonging to Bryce Quinlan.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Not much is known about Syrinx's former life. According to Lehabah, Syrinx was stolen from his mother as a cub, then traded for ten years around the world and then Jesiba Roga purchased him two months prior.
House of Earth and Blood[]
Jesiba told Bryce that he's "not a pet, but an expensive, rare creature." She bought him to help Lehabah guard the archives. However, he is more interested in eating, sleeping, and getting belly rubs than monitoring the books.
After Danika's death, Syrinx's freedom was bought by Bryce for 233.000 gold marks when she found out Jesiba planned to sell him to a violent warlord from the Farkaan Mountains. The warlord wanted to hurt and break Syrinx until he was a fighting beast, which Bryce wouldn't allow. She even had proof of his freedom certified, so that no one could ever buy him again. He got the freed brand, the official C, on his front right paw.[1]
On Hunt's first night guarding Bryce, Syrinx teleports to where Hunt is standing on the roof across the street from Bryce's apartment at dawn, bites Hunt in the butt, and vanishes right back into the apartment.

Personality[]
Syrinx is very affectionate with people whom he trusts and cares for, but is not afraid to be vicious if he believes someone is a threat to him or someone he cares about, such as Bryce. He was initially skeptical of Hunt when he first started working with Bryce but eventually came around and trusted him.
Physical Description[]
Syrinx is a thirty-pound chimera, being slightly bigger than a terrier. He has a wiry golden coat and his long tail is tufted with dark fur at the end like a lion's. He has little ears, dark eyes, and a round, fuzzy head. His scrunched-up face is more dog than anything. He has wrinkles of fat and longer hair at his neck that's not quite a mane. He has too-big paws that end in birdlike talons. Syrinx's body is stout and little with rounded, muscled shoulders. He has pointy, sharp teeth. He got the freed brand, the official C, on his front right paw.
Powers & Abilities[]
- Teleportation: Syrinx can teleport from one place to another as if he is walking from one room to another.
- Heightened Intelligence: Syrinx has the power to pick locks and open doors. While he does not communicate through speech, Syrinx is able to express himself in ways others can understand.
