Sathia Flynn is a Valbaran Fae, sister of Tristan Flynn, and wife of Tharion Ketos.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Not much is known about Sathia's life, but she grew up with her parent's expectations of marrying soon and carrying children for their bloodline. During her childhood, she was friends with Colin McCarthy, who later became a guard in the Flynn household. At some point, he and Sathia started a romantic relationship. Unbeknownst to her, her father Padraig Flynn would not let Colin court Sathia. Padraig introduced Colin to the Viper Queen and somehow got him to become one of her drugged-out guards and assassins. Padraig lied to Sathia and told her Colin had left because he had found a new position in Korinth. It was a difficult time for Sathia, so much so, that Colin leaving was her Ordeal.
House of Sky and Breath[]
Sathia was visiting Ruhn's House to inform her brother and his friends of Cormac Donnall's arrival in Lunathion and his declaration of making Bryce Quinlan his bride. Even though Tristan, Ruhn, and Declan already knew of this, Sathia wanted to discuss this engagement further. She was thrown out by her brother instead. Later, she was present at Celestina's and Ephraim's ceremony when Bryce declared her broken-off engagement with Cormac.
House of Flame and Shadow[]
Along with her parents, Sathia evacuated Lunathion and fled to Avallen. There, her parents and Morven Donnall tried to marry her off to either Duncan Donnall or his brother Seamus, which Sathia refused. When Tharion Ketos spontaneously offered to marry him instead, she accepted. The ceremony was fast and unexciting. She then accompanied Tharion when he went back to Lunathion to meet the River Queen and asking her to shelter innocents from the city. Later they encountered the Viper Queen and Sathia found Colin in her entourage. He was drugged-out and under her influence. It almost broke Sathia's heart and later, after the Asteri were defeated, she left Tharion to go find and help Colin.
Personality[]
Ruhn describes Sathia as having the rotten soul of a Reaper and being a professional snob. She often appears to be cold and controlled in her manners, but admits that underneath she knew what her life entailed; her father marrying her off, and she needed a way to ward off suitors he presented to her. Sathia appears to love holding court amid Fae male nobility. She has been raised to "bring honor to her family name."[1] Her real personality seems softer, kinder, and even more timid than everyone had been led to believe before, but she is still resilient and independent. She is pure predator at heart. Nothing and no one scares her.
Physical Description[]
Sathia is beautiful and petite. She has dyed, silken black hair that is naturally light brown. She has a pretty, heart-shaped face and green eyes. She has tan skin. Due to her family's wealth and her upbringing, Sathia wears little makeup as well-bred Fae females are supposed to do and she dresses immaculately. She wears solid sapphire studs in her pointed ears.
Powers & Abilities[]
- Fae Physiology: As one of the Fae, Sathia has enhanced senses and physical abilities, including a sense of smell much stronger than that of humans.
- Earth Magic: Sathia has Earth magic, just like her brother and father, and when Avallen is liberated, she grows berry bushes with a touch.
- Immortality: Since she presumably has made the Drop, Sathia is immortal, which not only grants her a slowed and expanded lifespan but allows her to survive injuries that not even her accelerated healing would be able to regenerate from.
Relationships[]
Colin McCarthy[]
Colin was her childhood friend and ex-boyfriend. Because he was poor, her father had sold him to the Viper Queen and lied to Sathia about him leaving Lunathion. It broke Sathia's so much, that the loss of Colin was her Ordeal. When she found out he was alive and in the employ of the Viper Queen, Sathia decided to find and help him.
Tharion Ketos[]
Sathia married Tharion out of convenience. Her family sought asylum from the Asteri in Avallen and her father allowed Morven to hold Sathia hostage until she wed. Morven and Lord Hawthorne wanted her to choose one of Morven's nephews, Seamus or Duncan, but she refused. Bryce and all her friends show up to Avallen, and seeing another person in a bad place, Tharion stepped up and offered to marry her, knowing that it would help both of them out of tough situation. Sathia agreed and they wed five minutes later.
