Luna is the patron goddess of Lunathion and favors some members from both House of Earth and Blood and House of Sky and Breath. She is the moon goddess.
Biography[]
Luna is the moon goddess of Midgard. She is the sister of Solas, the sun god.
Her priestesses are female virgins who wear white gowns. Acolytes wear a golden waxing crescent moon on a delicate chain across their brow. Upon becoming full-fledged priestesses when they reach maturity, they trade it for the full circle of Luna, or the full moon charm. When they age and fade, they trade the charm for a waning crescent moon. The priestesses all have their own reasons for offering themselves to Luna, but they forsake their lives beyond the temple grounds and embrace the goddess's eternal maidenhood. Just as Luna had no mate or lover, so would they live.[1]
The cypress tree is the sacred tree of Luna. Thousands were planted in Lunathion in her honor as patron goddess of the city. Both wolves and Fae claim Luna as their patron goddess. They have gone to war over whom she favored in millennia long past.
Trivia[]
- For Lunathion's temple, a statue of Luna was crafted from a single block of marble hewn from the famed Caliprian Quarries by the Melanthos River up north. The temple was the first thing built upon the city's founding five hundred years ago.
- The old Fae relic Luna's Horn is named after the goddess.
- Luna is often depicted carrying a bow and with two hunting dogs and a stag and thus shares a stark resemblance to the Greek goddess Artemis or her Roman counterpart Diana.
- Lidia Cervos is said to look exactly like Luna.[1]
