Justinian Gelos was a Malakh and member of the 33rd Legion.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Not much is known about Justinian's early life, but he was the youngest member of Micah Domitus's triarii and a member of the 33rd Legion. Micah had never shown much interest in Justinian beyond his popularity with the grunt troops of the 33rd Legion.[1]
House of Earth and Blood[]
Hunt Athalar asks Justinian to research the kristallos demon after Hunt and Bryce Quinlan meet with Ruhn Danaan and discuss Luna's Horn.
Justinian was crucified after he was found to be conspiring with Hunt and Viktoria against Micah. He fought as his body was held on the crucifix as the iron spikes went into him, and he began screaming at the pain. He was left bleeding out in the Comitium atrium, his ravaged body spiked to the iron crucifix in its center, and the glass box covered in dripping blood. He was given something to slow his healing, while his wings were cut off and dumped on the marble floor beneath him. Justinian's body tried and failed to heal his taxed lungs. Ultimately, he died and his rotting corpse stayed in the atrium for seven days. His body was then pulled off the crucifix and dumped into the Istros River for the river beasts to feast on. He received no Sailing as he was dubbed a traitor of the Republic.
Personality[]
Justinian had no problem pushing Hunt, even when it was clear Hunt didn't want to be bothered. He was not normally serious.
Physical Description[]
He wore black legionary armor.
Powers & Abilities[]
- Malakim Physiology: As an angel, Justinian had physical abilities and enhanced senses that made him far stronger than both humans and Vanir.
- Flight: Through his Malakim wings, Justinian was able to fly. He was capable of carrying people in his arms while he flew.
- Immortality: Having presumably made the Drop, Justinian was immortal which not only granted him a far greater lifespan, but allowed him to live through injuries that not even his accelerated healing would be able to regenerate from.
Trivia[]
- Justinian is a Latin name meaning "just, upright" or "righteous."[2] In Greek mythology, Gelos is the divine personification of laughter.[3]
