He was a good male, Hunt Athalar. As you are.

Aidas, Chapter 61, House of Flame and Shadow

Hyrieus was a Malakh scientist and Hunt Athalar's father.

Biography[]

Not much is known about Hyrieus life. He was a Malakh scientist at the Asteri Archives, delving into the origins of the Thunderbirds, of how strange their power was. He named the project after a near-forgotten god of storms - Project Thurr. Hyrieus researched the thunderbirds at the behest of the Asteri, who worried they might return. His research led him to the Princes of Hel instead. When they told him the truth about how they created the thunderbirds as a weapon, he offered help in whatever way he could. Thanatos was finishing up his work for a new weapon and with a male volunteer, only a female to breed with was needed. Hyrieus knew another angel briefly, but knew that a partner would help lift her from her poverty. He had every intention of staying with her and leaving his old life behind, to raise their child in secret. Instead, the Asteri's mystics told Rigelus about Hyrieus' connection to Hel. They didn't discover everything - nothing about Hunt or his mother -, only that he had been speaking with the Princes. Rigelus had then brought him in, tortured and executed.[1]

Powers & Abilities[]

  • Malakim Physiology: As an angel, Hyrieus had physical abilities and enhanced senses that made him far stronger than both humans and Vanir.
  • Flight: Through his Malakh wings, Hyrieus was able to fly. He was presumably also capable of carrying people in his arms while he flew.
  • Immortality: Having made the Drop, Hyrieus was immortal which not only had granted him a far greater lifespan, but had allowed him to live through injuries that not even his accelerated healing would have been able to regenerate from.
