Griffin Antiquities was formerly located in the Old Square, Lunathion and belonged to Jesiba Roga.

General Information[]

Griffin Antiquities dealt with various artifacts and also held the Great Library of Parthos with several irreplaceable books and personal collectibles from Jesiba herself. It had been located in the Old Square on a quiet street a block off the Istros River, but within a day of the attack on the city, Jesiba had cleared out the gallery and the precious volumes that made up all that remained of the ancient Great Library of Parthos. Most of Jesiba's other pieces are now in a warehouse with many in crates. Jesiba moved the Parthos books, one of the few remnants of the human world before the Asteri's arrival, to her office in the House of Flame and Shadow Headquarters. After Bryce Quinlan inherited them, she moved them to an unnamed place so that everyone might see them.

When Griffin Antiquities was located in the Old Square, it was in a slim building with unadorned, thick, sandstone walls that belied the latest tech and grade A spell work that kept it operational and preserved many of the books in the archives below it. No windows lined the sandstone façade of the slender two-story building. Only a bronze plaque to the right of the heavy iron door gave the name of the place. The words "Griffin Antiquities" were etched in archaic, bold lettering. The words were adorned with a set of glaring owl eyes. An intercom with a matching bronze button lay beneath. It had extensive surveillance equipment. A nearly invisible skintight enchantment coated the stone, mortar, and door. It was a cold, clever spell.

Upon entering was a modest gallery showroom. A green carpeted staircase led down to the archives through a gaping archway with glass sconces lining the walls. Lehabah guarded the archives day and night. Plush pine-green carpets covered the floor from wall to wall in the two-story showroom. The walls were wood-paneled. Alcoves of soft-lit art displays dotted the edges of the room. There were chunks of ancient frescoes, paintings, and statues of strange and rare Vanir. In the center of the space was a large ironwood desk. On the desk was a phone, a computer, and a conical diffuser added by Bryce. There were small tables between the chairs in front of the desk. A brass button beneath a ledge on the desk lowered the wood panel in the wall behind the desk, revealing a large screen. A small wood door behind the desk led upstairs to Jesiba's office where a floor-to-ceiling internal window overlooked the showroom. The simple, but six-inch-thick iron, door to the right of the desk led down into another full level that is stocked with things no one is supposed to know about or find. The enchantments on these two doors were insanely intense.

A tight, carpeted staircase leads up to Jesiba's office. The office is a small, plush space. One wall is a pane of glass that overlooks the gallery floor a level below, the material utterly soundproof. A rack of firstlights illuminate the dismantled gun hanging on the wall behind the wood desk. A safe is beside the painting on the right wall.[1]

In the archives were the library. There were tables and chairs throughout the space. The ceiling had been painted to look like the night sky. A giant gold chandelier hung down the center of the space as was fashioned after an exploding sun with all the other dangling lights in perfect alignment of the seven planets. Syrinx liked to sleep soon a green velvet couch. Lehabah's official perch was a glass dome. The library's walls were oak panels that looked old but were wired with the latest tech and best enchantments. There was also a killer sound system. Bookshelves lined every wall, interrupted only by a dozen or so small tanks and terrariums occupied by all manner of small common animals. The biggest tank was a massive one that occupied an entire wall.[2]
