Demons are an extra-dimensional species originating from the planet Hel, and the believed sworn enemy to the people of Midgard. There are many different types of demons who fall under the rule of the Princes of the seven levels of Hel: the Hollow, the Trench, the Canyon, the Ravine, the Chasm, the Abyss, and the Pit.

Physical Description

Demons come in different shapes and sizes, and are described to come in endless breeds and levels of intelligence, ranging from beasts that resembled feline-canine hybrids to the humanoid shape-shifting princes, such as Aidas, who ruled over Hel's seven territories. It is presumed that each demon breed was created for different purposes by their masters, with the environment of their dwelling place having an effect on their overall physiology. The Kristallos was bred by the Star-Eater - the Prince of the Pit - to locate Luna's Horn using the blood of the slain Pelias and his own essence. Its own body structure - particularly its face - was also reshaped to endure the darkness of the Pit itself, giving its name.

Powers & Abilities

Though the extent of their abilites are more or less unknown, it is presumed that different demon breeds have unique abilities pertaining to their own kind. Due to the destruction they caused to Midgard and other Vanir crossing the Rift, its widely known that demons possessed enhanced strength and speed, and regenerative abilities that could contend with the likes of Malakim and Fae, depending on their shape and size.

More intelligent demons like the Princes of Hel are for more powerful than their progeny and universally have the abilities of shapeshifting at their disposal, alongside powers unique to their own making. Aidas had the ability to shapeshift into a white cat and possessed cryokinetic abilities that just by standing in his presence, individuals in his proximity would freeze to death from prolonged exposure. The Star-Eater himself is considered the most powerful of the Princes as he was known for killing Pelias and one of the seven Asteri, Sirius, who were also known to display vast amounts of power.

Whilst its widely known that demons can be summoned, demons are also known to crossover into Midgard through small rifts scattered across the world, including the Princes like Aidas, although these rifts are not strong enough to summon the full power of their presence.
