Beyond Sofie, beyond Emile...This world could be so much more. This world could be free. I don't understand why you wouldn't want that.

–Chapter 17, House of Sky and Breath

Cormac Donnall was the Crown Prince of the Avallen Fae. He was a cousin to Ruhn Danaan through his Fae mother's kin, and distant cousin to Bryce Quinlan through her father.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

Cormac was the Crown Prince of the Avallen Fae. He spent his whole life thinking he'd get the Starsword one day, that he'd go into the Cave of Princes and be proven worthy. He then studied all the lore, learned all the lineage, pored over every account detailing the variations in the power. His father, the King of the Avallen Fae, instead made him fight for it, alongside his twin cousins. This was known as his Ordeal. They went up against his other cousin, Ruhn Danaan, plus Ruhn's two best friends, Tristan Flynn and Declan Emmet. He lost the sword to them, and held a grudge about it ever since.

House of Sky and Breath[]

He later became Agent Silverbow and was an Ophion agent. However, he was working against Ophion for the sake of Sofie Renast and Emile Renast. He was also placed in an arranged marriage with Bryce Quinlan, which was the news he delivered when he first made an appearance. He made a deal with Bryce to break off the engagement once he was done with his work in Valbara. He continued to work alongside Bryce on his own agenda.

Later, he broke into the compound with Bryce, Hunt, Ruhn, and Tharion. He and Tharion were together when Cormac was shot. He waited for Tharion to escape before erupting into a ball of flame, destroying Pippa Spetsos and the mech-suits. Rigelus confirmed to Bryce that Cormac incinerated himself and the lab.

Personality[]

Cormac could be described as cold, humorless, emotionless, arrogant, cocky, annoying, and deceitful. He often acted like a prick that manages to get under everyone's skin while he himself felt dead on the inside. He had a blunt personality and ruthlessly maintained his title as Crown Prince of the Avallen Fae. He held resentment for Ruhn and his friends due to the Starsword and their encounters when they were young. However, Cormac showed potential beneath his hard exterior. He made efforts to grow close to Bryce and her friends and showed love toward Sofie, revealing he was capable of the feelings and wasn't as terrible as everyone makes him out to be.

Physical Description[]

Cormac had tan skin, light brown eyes, and blond hair. Bryce described him as someone who would be ruggedly good-looking except for the utter lack of emotion on his face. He had a tattoo of strange symbols that encircled his left biceps. His hair has been described as glowing like molten metal and sparking embers. His appearance was mostly pristine.

Powers & Abilities[]

Powers[]

  • Fae Physiology: As one of the Fae, Cormac had enhanced senses and physical abilities, including a sense of smell much stronger than that of humans. He also healed from injuries much faster than a regular human.
  • Avallen Magic: As the son of the High King of the Avallen Fae, Cormac had the ability to manipulate shadows. This included summoning and walking through them, and cloaking himself and others in darkness.
  • Teleportation: Cormac was able to teleport between places, but after prolonged distances he became drained and pale. These powers could be hindered by a gorsian bullet, which is designed to split apart into shrapnel on impact and make sure the magic is suppressed for a long period of time.
  • Fire Manipulation: Cormac could manipulate fire.

Relationships[]

Sofie Renast[]

Sofie Renast was Cormac's known lover. The two of them communicated when she was imprisoned and he aided in her escape. They are both spies known as Agent Silverbow and Agent Cypress. During Sofie's escape, she went missing and Cormac sought to find her. He said he loved her and was hoping to find a way to spend his life with her.

Bryce Quinlan[]

Cormac was also in an arranged marriage with Bryce Quinlan, courtesy of the Autumn King and High King of the Avallen Fae. Bryce's star tattoo glowed every time Cormac was near. Despite the two of them being distant cousins, it was decided for political reasons. Bryce's joining with Cormac would have preserved the royal bloodline and strengthened the magic within it. Cormac believed Bryce was a good person and would make a good princess.

Trivia[]

  • Cormac had ten royal names and titles.[2]
  • When Bryce failed to bribe Cormac into dropping their engagement, he informed her of his considerable wealth and no need for money.[citation needed]
